Refund Policy

Effective date: 28 July 2026

Seller: Toby Weston, sole proprietor, Switzerland. Niederdorfstrasse 82, 8001 Zurich, Switzerland

To ask for a refund: email [email protected] with your account email and which purchase you mean. We answer within 5 business days.

0. Where things stand today

You cannot buy anything from us yet, so there is nothing to refund.

VSProse is in closed beta. Beta access is free, we ask for no credit card, and there is no payment path by which you could be charged. If anyone has asked you for money for VSProse, it was not us.

The free promotional allowance of 30 pages — the same 30 pages as the $12.99 Chapter Pack — is exactly that: free. It costs nothing, it asks for no credit card, and nothing about it is refundable because nothing was paid. It is one per person, and it expires 30 days after it lands in your account. If it expires unused, that is the end of it; there is no refund, because there was no payment.

The rest of this page is the policy that takes effect on the day we open payments. We are publishing it in advance so that nobody has to buy first and read the terms afterwards.

Some of it is automatic and some of it is us. The two thresholds in §1 and §2 — the 20% limit on packs, and the unused-allowance rule for subscription periods — are built into our billing system and applied by it. The 14-day proportional refund in §4, and anything to do with a disputed payment in §5, we work out by hand, one case at a time. We would rather tell you which is which than let you assume a machine is guarding a promise that a person is actually keeping.

1. Packs (Starter Pack, Chapter Pack, Book Pack)

Full refund within 14 days of purchase, as long as less than 20% of that pack’s pages have been used.

Once you have used 20% or more of a pack, it is not refundable — you have taken a real part of the service.

When we refund a pack, the pages still left in it are removed from your balance. You cannot keep the pages and the money.

2. Subscriptions

Cancelling costs nothing and is always available. Billing stops, and your subscription — with its page allowance — runs to the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunding a subscription period is possible only if none of that period’s page allowance has been used. One page used, and that period is no longer refundable. Cancel instead: it simply does not renew.

This is a strict rule and we would rather state it plainly than bury it. If you are in the EU or the UK, §4 gives you more than this within the first 14 days.

3. Founding Author

If we refund the first subscription payment — the one that made you a Founding Author — your Founding Author number and status are removed, and the slot returns to the pool. You were, in the end, not charged for it.

Refunds of later renewal payments do not affect it. Cancelling does not affect it either: you keep your number (see Terms §5).

4. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK: the 14-day withdrawal right

You normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Because your pages are usable the moment you buy them, at checkout you expressly ask us to start the service immediately, and you acknowledge what that means:

  • Packs. Your withdrawal right ends once you have used 20% or more of the pack. Until then, §1 above gives you at least as much as the law does.
  • Subscriptions. If you withdraw within 14 days of your first subscription purchase and you have already used part of the allowance, we refund the payment minus a proportionate charge for the pages you used, and remove the rest of that period’s allowance. This applies to that first 14-day window only, and it is more generous than §2.

Nothing in this policy takes away a statutory right that cannot be waived. If the law where you live gives you more than this document does, the law wins, and you should simply write to us.

5. Payment disputes

Refunds go back to the card or method you paid with, via Stripe.

If a payment is reversed — by us or by your bank — the unused pages from that purchase are removed from your balance. If something has gone wrong, email us before you call your bank: it is faster, and it keeps more options open for both of us.
